Unpublished Bob Dylan Lyrics Hit Auction block
Christie’s will auction off a collection of recently discovered draft lyrics by iconic King of Folk, Bob Dylan, later this month.
Among the items, that once belonged to Dylan’s manager Albert Grossman, include handwritten and typed versions of "Subterranean Homesick Blues,” "Visions of Johanna” and a draft of "Maggie's Farm” that are expected to fetch between $70,000 and $90,000, Reuters reported.
"The mid-60s, especially 1964 to 1966, were a true watershed for Dylan. In that period his lyrics became deeper and more personal, while his songs moved away from the acoustic, folk-inflected style, and he forged a unique personal style as poet and songwriter,” said Chris Coover, Christie's senior specialist for books.
Music memorabilia has always been a favourite at auction, and recently, numerous big-ticket items have generated hefty sales. In December, a hand-written draft of Dylan’s “The Times They are a Changin” sold for $422,000 at Sotheby’s. Likewise, John Lennon’s lyric for “A Day in the Life” grossed nearly $1.2 million last year. On a tangent, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller Jacket” will be going up for auction in Beverly Hills later this month. Interested in buying it? You're looking at $200,000 to $400,000.
For those intrigued by the prospect of owning something Dylan once touched, the collection will be sold among the fine-printed books and manuscripts auction at Christie’s in New York on June 23.

There are some great people on the list and then there are some omissions like Albert King that make me think it can't be that accurate. (laughs) You don't take that stuff to heart too much. I mean, it's nice to be a part of the conversation,
I'm pleased to hear them perform 'Bling (Confessions of a King)' which, up until the Royal Albert Hall gig, they had stopped performing. It's a track that whilst not radio friendly, is a treat to hear live and really benefits from the production values
Albert King - Little Brother (Make My Way) Lyrics
Now all a-you young folks ravin'
An' hollerin' about how bad you wanna be free
But let me tell ya what it was like in my day
For an' old man like me
Are you ready? (yeah))
Take it on little brother an'make a way
I said take it on little brother take it further
Now I had to work ev'ryday
On my job I didn't get much pay
Had to say 'yes sir' to the other man
I was too confused to understand
I had to things yeah against my will
If I hadn't looked further
You wouldn't have made it
