New Arizona Child Support Guidelines Become Effective June 1, 2011 ...
As of June 1, 2011 the amended and new Arizona Child Support Guidelines became effective. One noticeable change among others to the revised Guidelines is the increase in the “self support reserve” from $775 monthly to $903.
The self support reserve test is determined in each case, after determining the child support order. The Court uses this test to verify that the noncustodial parent is financially able both to pay the child support order and to maintain at least a minimum standard of living.
To calculate as of June 1, 2011 deduct $903 from the noncustodial parent’s adjusted gross income. If the resulting amount is less than the child support order, the court may reduce the current child support order to the resulting amount after first considering the financial impact the reduction would have on the custodial parent’s household. The test applies only to the current child support obligation, but does not prohibit an additional amount to be ordered to reduce an obligor’s arrears.
