A large group of people at a recent driving event were observing high performance cars driven by their owners through a course of orange cones; BMW, Porsche, Jaguar, and many more were timed as they zoomed around the cones as fast as they could.
A small Japanese economy car appeared next in line, and the driver with helmet fastened, blew through the course faster than any of the preceding exotic and sports cars. The last thing viewers saw as he smiled while emerging at the finish was the rental car sticker on the tail end of the tiny car.
This is the difference between someone who has attended a performance driving school, and others who merely try to drive fast.
Having a “hot” car can be fun, but to truly enjoy the subtleties and abilities of the machine you need to have skills that you can’t get from driving on the street or highways. You will want to know how to truly cut a turn by seeing the right line through it, how to accelerate hard and to brake at the right moment so as not to lose momentum, and how to use every drop of steering control that the tires and suspension can give you.
Drivers of any age and of any skill level can benefit from the training you gain at a performance driving school. For the young driver with limited experience behind the wheel, knowing how to avoid accidents and to be as safe as possible, while gaining confidence is of utmost importance.
