COVER-RITE CARPET

Larry Kolodziej founded Cover-Rite Carpets in Crown Point 40 years ago, and 28 years ago opened a second location in Highland at 9400 Indianapolis Blvd.

Cover-Rite Design Center remains a family owned business that serves Northwest Indiana. Kolodziej's two sons, Kevin and Christopher, and his step-son Michael Mathais, working for the business.

"We carry a large selection of tile, carpet, wood, laminate and vinyl floors as well as commercial products," says Kolodziej. "Our professional installers, who are our employees, have over 450 years of combined experience which result in quality service. Since we have been in business we have installed over 40 million square feet of flooring in over 60,000 locations, residential as well as commercial."

The 17,000 square foot Highland facility has all the newest colors and styles, with the largest selection of flooring in Northwest Indiana, he says "With over 250 different carpet styles, hundreds of tiles to choose from as well as laminates and vinyl floors, the only problem is where to start!"

Cover-Rite carries all major brands of flooring. Recently the company joined Abbey Carpet Floor franchise, a buying group that "increases our buying power and we pass on the savings to our customers," Kolodziej says.

The showroom's Highland location on Indianapolis Boulevard provides easy access for customers and there's close proximity to the expressway for customers coming from outside the area. That helps give Cover-Rite a home base with a customer radius of 30 to 40 miles.

In addition, Kolodziej says Highland is a great community where new and existing homes create a great customer base.

"This is our hometown," he says.

Showroom hours are 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Closed Sunday.
